Painful Interference

I recently read the following quote, spoken by Bob Pierce, the founder of Samaritan’s Purse and also World Vision:

“Lord, I give you license to interfere in my life and plans at any time, in any way, at any cost to me.”

Amidst dealing with personal health challenges the past 2 months that have meant being in severe pain (back and neck pain, as well as headaches) – the kind of pain that knocks you down and puts you out of commission – I decided to pray this prayer myself.

Lord, I give you license to interfere in my life and plans at any time, in any way, at any cost to me.

Already, I can see God’s hand through the trial.

Because of the places and experiences I’ve undergone the last few months, God has used it to:

* bring a friend closer to Christ

* accomplish spiritual development in my own life – I’ve been listening to my Audio Bible CDs and decided to try to listen through the whole thing orally spoken (whereas thus far I’ve only silently read through the Bible in it’s entirety)

* prompt me to do a 3-day fast and a gallbladder flush conjunction (the latter of which I have been learning is probably good to do every 6 months, and it had been several years prior since my last gallbladder flush had occurred)

*open the doors to my obtaining a local garden plot (where I’m planning to grow some organic food this year!)

* prompt me to pray more for others – when you are by yourself a lot and having to ice / do castor oil packs / lay on an inversion table / lie down, lie down, lie down, it’s a great opportunity to pray for others in need! And I’ve already seen some pretty amazing answers to my prayers while I’ve been “down for the count”! There is such power in prayer – and just because you can’t get up and live all the other ways you might like to be, perhaps the greatest privileges await the one pinned down by pain.

Hey Lisa, as someone who is going through some back pain, too, I know how annoying it is. I think you are doing the right things and He will heal you. We can’t understand His ways, but I truly believe He is working for our good in all things! Mike

:) Thanks for the encouragement! I am hopeful – for I know in WHOM my Hope lies! Something that is not as fickle as our human bodies. Praying for healing for your back too!!
